Relationships can be tough, whether it’s a marriage, a friendship, a work, or a parent relationship. Often it helps to gain perspective, and learn some strategies to work better with others and improve your relationships. Psychologists provide supportive, evidence-based, counselling and treatment to help with difficult relationships.  Please call or contact us for an appointment.
Stress often shows up in many different disguises and symptoms. There are things we do that we hope will help but they can just make things worse in the long run. Understanding your stress levels, what’s contributing to them and what you can do about them, is a great step towards having a greater sense of control, feeling good about yourself and improving your life.  Please call or contact us for an appointment.
Often we need someone to talk to who can hold our confidence and offer objective support. Seeing a psychologist provides a safe and confidential environment to work through anything that might be bothering you. No matter what you may be struggling with, psychologists are trained to provide you with objective and evidence-based information and support.  Please call or contact us for an appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

About seeing a psychologist are listed here.

Do I need a Referral?
You can call and make an appointment without a referral. The current Medicare Better Access initiative allows for a significant rebate on psychological services for up to 10 individual sessions a year. To access the Medicare rebate,  you will need to be referred on a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) by a GP. On a MHCP there is an initial set of 6 sessions, then, if you require, another 4 sessions can be authorised by your GP.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments are generally 50-60 minutes in duration. A courtesy SMS reminder is usually sent to your mobile phone the day before your appointment. If you are unable to attend, please provide 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee.

How confidential is the appointment?

The information that you share is confidential, except:

  • If the psychologist considers that an adult or child (including yourself) is at risk of serious harm.
  • If the information is subpoenaed by a court.
  • If a client agrees, verbally or in writing, to share information with a third party such as a GP or a relative.
What kind of clients do you work with?
I work with adults and couples from the age of 18 upwards. Occasionally I might see an adolescent who is a mature minor, but mostly I prefer to work with adults.
What is psychological therapy about?
This is your time. Your sessions may just involve you talking about your feelings, or they may be more focused, such as addressing specific issues you want to work on or exploring how you relate to other people and how this may be improved. There are many ways of working with people and in order that this is most effective, I attempt to tailor the sessions to your individual needs and personality. The first step is to get to know you.
What are the fees?

The normal fee for a 50-60 minute session is $195.00 and is payable at each session. Eftpos/credit card facilities are available for your convenience.

This fee is based on the annual Medicare review of fees and the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee of $235.00 per session. If you are referred by your GP and have a MHCP, the Medicare rebate is $126.50 and the gap is $68.50.

If you have a MHCP and private health insurance, you can only claim from either Medicare or your private health fund, but not from both.

Alternatively, if you are a private client with private health insurance, you can check with your specific health fund as to what amount you may be able to claim. Fees are reviewed at least annually, usually in November.
